FOIA Request to DuPage County Sheriff's Office Regarding Immigration Detainer Records on January 29, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the DuPage Policy Journal have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office. The request specifically seeks documents and/or records showing persons committed to county jails who have had an Immigration Detainer issued by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency lodged against them since January 29, 2024.
Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We will continue our efforts in keeping the public informed about important issues related to immigration and law enforcement practices in DuPage County. We look forward to receiving a prompt response from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office.
