Rep. Sean Casten, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Illinois’ 6th district since 2019, has recently shared his concerns regarding the current administration through a series of tweets. His statements focus on the trustworthiness of President Donald Trump and his administration's actions and policies.

On January 28, 2025, Rep. Casten expressed doubt about the reliability of statements from President Trump and his administration. He urged individuals to "watch not what he says, but what he does," highlighting a distrust in verbal assurances from the administration. "We face a tragic reality that we cannot trust the word of the President of the United States or members of his administration."

In another tweet posted on the same day, Rep. Casten questioned which social programs might be affected by potential policy changes under Trump's leadership. He mentioned specific programs such as SNAP, child nutrition programs, Meals on Wheels, the 988 suicide prevention hotline, and Head Start. Casten pointed out conflicting reports about these programs' future while expressing skepticism about taking "the Trump Administration at its word." "What else might be stopped?"

Furthermore, Rep. Casten relayed concerns from a local organization focused on seniors that is facing program cuts due to administrative pauses. This prompted him to question President Trump's commitment to senior citizens' welfare: "I thought President Trump said he cared about seniors?"
