DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin announced that Timothy Jackson, a convicted felon from Villa Park, has been sentenced to 18 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Jackson was found guilty of aggravated unlawful restraint and weapons charges in two separate incidents.

In January 2020, Jackson was charged with possessing a loaded semi-automatic pistol at a Wheaton convenience store. His bond was set at $75,000, and he posted the required 10% to be released. In October 2021, while out on bond, Jackson allegedly entered his former girlfriend's home and threatened her with a gun. He fled before police arrived but was later apprehended.

In December 2024, Judge Margaret O’Connell found Jackson guilty of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon for the Wheaton incident. Earlier in July 2024, he was also found guilty of aggravated unlawful restraint and additional weapons charges related to the home invasion.

"Mr. Jackson is a convicted felon and as such has forfeited his right to ever legally possess a firearm," said Berlin. "The fact that Mr. Jackson continued to illegally possess a weapon... demonstrates his complete lack of respect for the rule of law."

Judge O’Connell sentenced Jackson to eight years for the convenience store case and ten years for the home invasion case, to be served consecutively.

Berlin commended the Wheaton Police Department for their efforts in these cases and thanked Assistant State’s Attorneys Denis Cahill, Kelly McKay, and Kristin Sullivan for their work in prosecuting Jackson.
