Two women from Cook County, along with two male juveniles, face charges related to a retail theft and burglary incident at the Oak Brook Sephora store. The announcement was made by DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Oak Brook Chief of Police Brian Strockis.
Marisol Ocampo, 35, from Chicago, is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, burglary, and retail theft. Her co-defendant, Deysi Villalobos, 32, from Melrose Park, faces similar charges. The two juveniles involved have been charged with burglary, aggravated battery, and retail theft. One juvenile also faces an additional charge for threatening a public official.
The alleged incident occurred on December 22nd when the defendants reportedly took merchandise valued over $300 without payment. It is claimed that Ocampo and Villalobos instructed one juvenile to steal items while another juvenile allegedly threatened a police officer during arrest.
Berlin stated: “It is alleged that Ms. Villalobos, Ms. Ocampo and two minor children stole merchandise from a retail store.” He emphasized law enforcement's commitment to safety during the holiday shopping season.
Strockis remarked: “These offenders came to the Oak Brook mall thinking it would be an easy target... They soon found out that we don't tolerate criminal behavior in Oak Brook.”
Ocampo and Villalobos are set for arraignment on January 21st before Judge Brian Telander. The juveniles will appear in court on January 10th.
Authorities remind the public that these charges are not proof of guilt; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven otherwise in court.
