FOIA Request to City of Naperville Regarding New and Active Residential and Commercial Building Permits on October 30, 2024.

As a team at DuPage Policy Journal, we have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Naperville, Illinois. The request was made in our ongoing effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The records requested under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act are related to both new and active residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, till the date of the request. We have asked for these records preferably in an electronic format for ease of access and review.

For each permit, we have requested details such as the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address, and contractor's name. These details are essential for us to provide a thorough analysis and reporting on the building permits issued by the city.

Access to public records is vital for us at DuPage Policy Journal as it allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from the City of Naperville regarding our request. We will continue to keep our readers updated with any developments regarding this matter.
