FOIA Request to City of West Chicago Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
We at the DuPage Policy Journal have formally requested information from the City of West Chicago under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. Our request specifically pertains to new and active residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until the present day.
The records we seek include details such as the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address where work is being performed, and contractor's name. We are interested in both new permits that have been issued and those that are currently active.
As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
