FOIA Request to Elmhurst City Council Regarding Detailed Information on Council Members on October 15, 2024.
A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Elmhurst City Council by the DuPage Policy Journal. The request was made in line with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
The DuPage Policy Journal is a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability, we requested specific records from the Elmhurst City Council.
The records requested include a list of all council members with their names, titles, years appointed, term lengths (2 or 4 years), and term expiry dates. These details are essential for us at the DuPage Policy Journal as we strive to provide our readers with an accurate understanding of their local government structure.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
