A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Darien City Council in Illinois on October 15, 2024. The request, issued by DuPage Policy Journal, sought comprehensive details about the council members.
The DuPage Policy Journal, a media organization committed to providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, requested specific information about each council member. The data requested included each member's name, title, year of appointment, term length (2 or 4 years), and term expiration date.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public, we believe access to such records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. In light of our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as part of this FOIA request.
We are currently awaiting a response from the Darien City Council and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
