State Representative Amy Grant is calling on residents of Illinois to familiarize themselves with the signs of a stroke in observance of World Stroke Day. October 29th marks this global event, emphasizing the critical importance of recognizing stroke symptoms promptly.

The F.A.S.T. acronym serves as a guide for identifying potential strokes and encouraging immediate action:

- **F**ace Drooping: Check if one side of the face is numb or drooping by asking the person to smile.

- **A**rm Weakness: Determine if one arm is weak or numb by having the person raise both arms and observing if one drifts downward.

- **S**peech Difficulty: Listen for slurred or hard-to-understand speech by asking the person to repeat a simple sentence.

- **T**ime to Call 911: If any of these signs are present, it is crucial to call emergency services without delay.

"Knowing the F.A.S.T. method and acting quickly can save lives and reduce the impact of stroke," stated Rep. Grant. "On World Stroke Day, let’s all commit to learning the signs and sharing them with loved ones."
