Illinois State Police Trooper Corey S. Thompsen has died following a collision while on duty. The incident occurred when a truck entered an intersection in Champaign County and struck the 28-year-old trooper's motorcycle during a traffic enforcement detail on Friday afternoon. Despite immediate assistance from a witness and first responders, Thompsen was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to the hospital.
