Illinois State House District 45 candidate Dennis Reboletti spoke of the Elmhurst 9/11 Memorial Unveiling Service, saying, "We remember the heroes, the victims, and all those who continue to be impacted by the events of September 11, 2001," in a Sept. 11 Facebook post.

"This morning in Elmhurst, I had the honor of attending the 9/11 Memorial Unveiling Service," said Reboletti, according to Facebook. "As we mark 23 years since that tragic day, let us never forget the lives lost, the bravery shown, and the resilience of a nation forever changed. We remember the heroes, the victims, and all those who continue to be impacted by the events of September 11, 2001. May we always hold them in our hearts and strive for unity and peace."

On Sept. 11, 2024, Elmhurst unveiled a new memorial to the first responders, victims, and surviving family members of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. According to WGN 9, the new centerpiece of First Responders Memorial Plaza is described as "rust-colored steel rising to the sky and the white cubed towers alongside, represents the Twin Towers of New York City, their collapse on Sept. 11, 2001, the thousands of lives lost, and the sacred promise that we will never forget."
