City of Elmhurst Public Works & Buildings Committee met June 10

1. Call to Order:

Ald. Bastedo called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.

5. Business Before the Committee:

Minutes of the May 23, 2024, Public Works & Building Committee:

A. Ald. Bram motioned to approve the May 23, 2024, Minutes of the Public Works & Building Committee; Ald. Sienko seconded. Voice vote. Motion carried 4-0 (Bastedo, Cahill, Bram, Sienko). Minutes approved. 

B. Discussion of Minutes of Meetings Lawfully Closed under this Act, whether for purposes of approval by the body of the minutes or semi-annual review of the minutes as mandated by Section 2.06 of the Act 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(21) - Review of the following Executive Session Meeting Minutes to remain closed: October 14, 2015 and October 26, 2015:

Public Works Director Balicki presented the agenda item. Ald. Cahill motioned to keep minutes closed, Ald. Sienko seconded.  Voice vote. Motion carried 4-0 (Bastedo, Cahill, Bram, Sienko). Item approved. 

C. Pending Items Review:

Public Works Director Balicki presented the agenda item.

D. Rock Salt Contract for the 2024-2025 Winter Season:

Asst. Public Works Director Tiberi presented the agenda item. Ald. Sienko motioned to approve the draft report, Ald. Bram seconded.  Voice vote. Motion carried 4-0 (Bastedo, Cahill, Bram, Sienko). Report approved. 

E. Parking Deck and Pedestrian Tunnel Custodial Maintenance Contract:

Asst. Public Works Director Tiberi presented the agenda item. Ald. Bram motioned to approve the draft report, Ald. Sienko seconded.  Voice vote. Motion carried 4-0 (Bastedo, Cahill, Bram, Sienko). Report approved. 

F. Gladys Avenue Sidewalk SSA Results: (should have been Glade)

City Engineer Sianis presented the agenda item.  This item will be brought back to the June 24, 2024 meeting.

G. Referral - New Sidewalk Policy Review:

Public Works Director Balicki presented the agenda item.

H. Elmhurst History Museum Public Performance Space - Construction Bids:

City Engineer Sianis presented the agenda item. Ald. Cahill motioned to approve the draft report, Ald. Sienko.  Voice vote. Motion carried 4-0 (Bastedo, Cahill, Bram, Sienko). Report approved.

6. Other Business:

• Future Committee Meetings:  June 24, 2024 (Ald. Cahill will be absent), July 8, 2024, July 22, 2024 (Ald. Bastedo will be absent)

• Ald. Bram inquired about the deterioration of the wooden soundwall on I290.

• Ald. Bastedo asked for an update on grant funding. This will be discussed at the June 24, 2024 Committee meeting.
