Mark Rice, a candidate for Illinois' 8th Congressional District, has voiced strong criticism of his opponent and the incumbent Democrat, Raja Krishnamoorthi. Rice stated, "Radical Raja and his party have been a disaster to our national security." He further added, "It is an utter disgrace, it’s so bad we have CCP spies on our payrolls and accessing information of our citizens."
"Notice how radical Raja Krishnamoorthi sits on the US and CCP relations committee and under his fake leadership, he has said nothing and done nothing to crack down on all the Chinese nationals illegally sneaking through his party's wide open border," said Rice, according to Facebook. "Radical Raja and his party have been a disaster to our national security. It is an utter disgrace, it's so bad we have CCP spies on our payrolls and accessing information of our citizens."
Rice's comments were made in the context of a Facebook post where he shared a link to an article on Justthenews.com. The article discussed the dismissal of Lt. Steven Li, a Chinese police officer from the New York Police Department (NYPD). According to the report, while working at the Internal Affairs bureau, Li allegedly assisted a Chinese national indicted in 2022 for failing to notify the US government that he was acting as an agent for China. It is suggested that Li arranged meetings for this individual with a woman accused of embezzling money from a state-owned company in China.

The New York Post also reported on Li’s termination and provided additional details about the case. The publication revealed that the individual Li was aiding, known as Ying, was in the United States as part of "Operation Fox Hunt," aimed at repatriating Chinese fugitives who would then face charges in China. Reportedly, Li facilitated meetings between Ying and a woman identified only as "Huang," who had been targeted by the Chinese government for embezzlement before she relocated to the US in 2001. Due to these interactions with Huang, investigators began probing whether Li was operating as an agent for China.
