Amy Grant, a candidate for Illinois State House District 47, has voiced her concerns about the state's public policies. "Illinois has so much to offer, but poor public policies push people away," said Grant. She believes that the solution lies in economic reform, stating, "if we lower taxes and make Illinois a friendlier place to do business, we can become a destination for growth once again."

"Illinois has so much to offer, but poor public policies push people away," said Amy L Grant, State Representative for 47th District (R), according to Facebook. "If we lower taxes and make Illinois a friendlier place to do business, we can become a destination for growth once again."

In a recent Facebook post, Rep. Grant shared an article from The Center Square which focused on the latest Census data for Illinois. The article featured insights from Ted Dabrowski, president of Wirepoints. "Ninety-three out of the 122 cities shrunk in the past year. That basically includes all the big places, Cicero, Berwyn, Blue Island, Elwood Park... they all shrunk and that should be a big concern to everybody," Dabrowski was quoted as saying in the May 16 article. The report also highlighted that the top five cities gaining population were located in Texas, Florida and North Carolina.

A separate article by The Center Square published on May 16 pointed out discrepancies in population numbers presented by Governor Pritzker. "The Census page for Illinois shows the state’s population is 12.8 million, not 'more than 13 million,' as Pritzker contends." According to this piece, despite efforts to add 46,400 residents to its count, Illinois lost 79,500 individuals during the 2020 Census. Even after these additions were considered, the state saw a net loss of 33,100 people.

Further data from the Census revealed significant details about households and employment in Illinois. There are currently 5,056,360 households with a total of 5,426,429 housing units within the state. Employment rates show that over half of residents (61.7%) are gainfully employed.

The Census also provided a breakdown of the population by age groups. The data revealed that the largest age group for women in Illinois is 55 to 59 years, with 426,757 women falling into this category. For men, the most populous age group is 25 to 29 years, comprising of 440,022 individuals.

Rep. Amy Grant assumed office in January 2023. Prior to her political career, she was a teacher and served on the DuPage County Board from 2012 to 2018. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Pittsburgh.
