State Representative Nicole La Ha (R-Homer Glen) recently made her inaugural appearance on the House floor as the 103rd General Assembly reconvened. La Ha expressed a clear focus on her legislative objectives for the session.
“This was a very special week for me personally,” La Ha said on Facebook. “It was the start of the 103rd General Assembly.”
“Driving into Springfield as a State Representative for the people of District 82 is a tremendous honor that I do not take lightly.”
In addition to expressing her gratitude for her chance to serve as a State Representative, La Ha highlighted her commitment to family and community.
"I am extremely grateful to have this opportunity to be a family-focused voice on the House floor that advocates for the needs of our community," she said. "I also want to thank my daughter Ashlynn, who has shown me the importance of creating a world where every child, regardless of their abilities, can experience the joy of play and connection. I will never lose sight of my ’Why.’"
La Ha further committed herself to working with other representatives to bring about significant change. She pledged to represent her constituents' interests and contribute meaningfully to legislative decisions affecting the wider community.
"I am eager to collaborate and continue to learn from my fellow Reps to create positive and lasting changes for Illinois," she said.
Addressing her fellow House members from the legislative body’s floor, La Ha expressed both humility and responsibility in her new role.
"It’s with great humility and a deep sense of responsibility that I stand here before you all today as a new state representative," she said. "I am tremendously honored to represent my amazing community and the wonderful people who live in the 82nd district... I look forward to working with each and every one of you to create positive changes in Illinois. And I’m ready to serve."
La Ha, who was appointed to fill the vacancy in the 82nd State House District following John Egofske's resignation, previously served as press secretary for Senate Minority Leader Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods). With a background in public advocacy and active involvement in charitable committees, La Ha has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to community service. Her campaign website emphasizes her election to the Village of Homer Glen Board of Trustees in 2021, where she opposed tax increases and worked to improve the quality of life for residents with disabilities.
Currently, La Ha is campaigning for a full term representing the 82nd District, which includes Darien and Lemont in DuPage and Cook counties. Ballotpedia lists Democrat Suzanne Akhras as another candidate vying for the seat.
