On Jan. 7, a bus carrying 30 illegal immigrants was dropped off at the Metra Station in Wheaton.

According to Emergency Management and Regional Security, the passengers were dropped off at 5 p.m. and boarded a Metra train bound for Chicago after their arrival.

The drop-off comes in the wake of a significant increase in illegal immigrant drop-offs in DuPage County, particularly after the City of Chicago implemented strict measures against non-compliant buses.

Reports indicate that, in some cases, as many as 800 illegal immigrants have been dropped off in the state in a single day.

Heather Brown, representing West Chicago's Ward 2 and a candidate for Illinois State Senate District 25, has been raising awareness about the escalating situation.

Brown revealed that DuPage County is planning to impose restrictions following the influx of several hundred illegal immigrants in a single day.

“I’m trying to get ahold of people in the county and see what their plans are,” West Chicago, Ward 2 Alderman Heather Brown said last week.

Brown, a candidate for Illinois State Senate District 25, said she was notified DuPage County would be enacting restrictions after several hundred illegal immigrants were dropped off in the county in a single day.

The issue was also discussed during a recent Hinsdale Village Board meeting where drop-offs were prohibited.

Officials reported that a bus driver had informed them about the likelihood of such occurrences continuing through March, raising concerns about the sustained impact on local communities.
