Illinois State Representative District 82 candidate Nicole La Ha Zwiercan expressed gratitude for the success of the inaugural “Heels for the House” fundraiser hosted by House Republican Leader Tony McCombie (R-Savanna). The event, which aimed to foster collaboration and support for women in leadership roles, provided attendees, including La Ha Zwiercan, with an opportunity to engage with influential leaders.

“Leader McCombie’s ‘Heels for the House’ event with special guest Congresswoman Mayra Flores,” La Ha Zwiercan said on Facebook.

“Thank you for a wonderful event Leader McCombie and Mary Sullivan! Such a great night filled with amazing conversations!”

The “Heels for the House” fundraiser was a unique event aimed at empowering women and raising funds for the House Women’s Leadership initiative. McCombie encouraged participation from the community, emphasizing the importance of supporting women in leadership roles. Special guest Congresswoman Flores joined attendees at the event. The fundraiser seeks to bring together advocates of women’s leadership and create a platform for collaboration and support.

La Ha Zwiercan, who serves as press secretary for Senate Minority Leader Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods), boasts extensive experience in public advocacy, serving on charitable committees, and earning the 2018 International Humanitarian Award for community service. On her campaign website, she emphasizes her commitment to serving the community, citing their election to the Village of Homer Glen Board of Trustees in 2021, where she fought against tax increases and played a crucial role in improving the lives of residents with disabilities. She was named Mrs. America in 2022. 

House District 82 is currently represented by State Rep. John Egofske (R-Lemont) who also serves as Mayor of Lemont. Egofske was appointed to the seat following former House Minority Leader Jim Durkin’s resignation. District 82 covers Darien and Lemont in DuPage and Cook counties.
