State Senator Seth Lewis (R-Bartlett) joined Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias and other public officials on Tuesday for the official opening and ribbon cutting of the new Secretary of State’s Road Testing Center in Addison. The facility, located at the Addison Township Office, will provide much-needed services for Illinoisans who need to take a behind-the-wheel driving test to obtain or renew a driver’s license.

Senator Lewis expressed his enthusiasm for the new facility, stating, “This road testing facility is a wonderful addition to this region and it will provide a much-needed service for those who live and work in this area. Motorists will now have easy access to a test that is required for many drivers, especially seniors.”

The Secretary of State’s Office has been working diligently to improve service delivery following the challenges posed by the COVID-19 health pandemic. Senator Lewis highlighted some of the steps taken to enhance customer service, including the implementation of the “Skip the Line” appointment system for most driver services and the establishment of a designated senior-only appointment phone line. Additionally, senior-only walk-in centers have been set up in Evanston, Bridgeview, and Westchester.

Addison Township Supervisor Dennis Reboletti expressed his gratitude for the selection of the township office as the site for the new facility. He encouraged visitors to not only take advantage of the services provided by the Secretary of State’s Road Testing Center but also to explore the various services and assistance offered at the township level.

The new road testing facility in Addison Township will undoubtedly improve accessibility for Illinois drivers in need of driving tests. With its convenient location and comprehensive range of services, the facility will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and competence of motorists on the roads.
