State Representative Amy Grant is taking action to address important issues in DuPage County and the State of Illinois. Recently, she hosted a law enforcement roundtable to discuss the fallout from the SAFE-T Act and the current status of public safety. Grant emphasized the need to support and uplift our police departments and law enforcement agencies, stating, "At a time when there's a clear shift to favor criminals over victims, the emphasis must return to recruiting and retaining dedicated and qualified law enforcement professionals and fixing the problems caused by the SAFE-T Act."

Grant also highlighted the importance of blood donations amidst a severe shortage in the Chicagoland area. Major blood suppliers have been appealing for donations to avoid potential rationing in hospitals. Grant stated, "The situation underscores the importance of regular donations which is why I am always happy to host blood collectors for drives. If you're prepared to give an immediate donation, please consider donating at versiti.org, redcrossblood.org, or vitalant.org."

In addition to advocating for public safety and blood donations, Grant is actively involved in supporting the community. She shared information about a basic needs drive happening in Wheaton, urging people to donate essential items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, laundry detergent, and more. Grant stated, "Will you join me and ABUNDANT CHILDREN & FAMILY SERVICES AGENCY shine a light on this issue and donate to their Basic Needs Drive?"

Grant also participated in the Wheaton Multi-Cultural Festival, expressing her enjoyment in celebrating the diversity and unity of the community. She emphasized the importance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and encouraged everyone to learn the warning signs of abuse and share resources to help those affected. Grant provided the National Domestic Violence Hotline number, stating, "If you or someone you know is experiencing relationship abuse, call 1-800-799-7233 or text 'START' to 88788."

Furthermore, Grant highlighted the need for child safety on the road and the importance of using the right car seats. She shared statistics that reveal the risks children face in car crashes and urged parents to ensure their children are properly secured. Grant stated, "Make the right choice for their safety – always check if your child is in the right car seat."

Breast Cancer Awareness Month was also emphasized by Grant, who encouraged women to prioritize regular breast self-exams, clinical breast exams, and mammograms for early detection. She shared the American Cancer Society's recommendation that women aged 40 and older should have mammograms every 1 or 2 years.

Grant concluded by informing the community about the new helpline available in DuPage County - 2-1-1 DuPage. This resource provides assistance with various needs, including housing and utility help, transportation, disaster services, legal and public safety, health and wellness, and more.

State Representative Amy Grant is dedicated to advocating for public safety, supporting the community, and addressing important issues in DuPage County and the State of Illinois.
