‘Raucous evening in Downtown Naperville’: Safe Suburb PAC on teen mob

A group of approximately 150 teenagers recently flooded into downtown Naperville casuing a tumultuous evening in the city.

The incident has sparked discussions about the potential implementation of a teen curfew as authorities grapple with crowd management.

“Mob of teens make the cover of the Naperville Sun after a raucous evening in Downtown Naperville. Is a teen curfew the answer to avoiding similar incidents in the future?” Safe Suburbs PAC said on Twitter.

According to the Naperville Sun, about 150 people gathered in downtown Naperville near Main and Jackson leading to the deployment of several police officers to manage the crowd.

Dozens of citations were reportedly issued to pedestrians.

The police presence increased downtown after this incident, and it's yet to be determined whether the gathering was spontaneous or orchestrated – though Chicago has experineced similar s-called “teen takoevers” since early this year.

Similar occurrences have been noted in downtown Waukegan as well.

The Chicago Tribune reported some in the crowd were chanting “Black lives matter!” as they descended onto downtown and fights broke out.

Zach Raucci, residing a few blocks from downtown, told the Tribune he often records events in the area and captured the scene on video. He observed increased police presence downtown following a recent pedestrian accident, but remains uncertain about the cause behind the specific gathering he documented.

Raucci later tweeted Safe Suburbs PAC  about the incident.

“Mannnn I can show you guys old people, colored people, girls, guys, whatever fighting downtown. Violence don't discriminate actually had a plan for a video called Downtown Naperville Fight club things were getting so bad. thanks for sharing my vid!” Raucci said on Twitter.
