State Rep. Amy Grant recently took to social media to talk about her tour of the Warrenville Fire Department and her appreciation for first responders in Illinois.

“First responders like Police, Fire, and EMTs sacrifice so much to keep our communities safe,” Grant said on Facebook. “I am always eager to learn more about what goes into their operation that can be called upon in a moments notice. I toured Warrenville Fire Department to do just that. Speaking with the firemen directly and seeing the tools that they work with gave me a fresh perspective that makes me even more grateful for the first responders that keep us safe!”

Grant also shared her experience participating in Wheaton Police Department’s Roll Call earlier in the month. According to the city of Wheaton website, the Wheaton Police Roll Call events will be taking place throughout the summer. The events are open to everyone in the community and people are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to relax in. The family friendly events have a focus on connecting residents with police officers, whole sharing safety information. Police will talk about crime trends, make demonstrations and answer questions. There are also activities for children to enjoy.

“Fostering strong and healthy relationships between the community and law enforcement is crucial,” said Grant in a June 28 news release on her website. “Not only does it help make our community a happier place, but also makes it easier for police officers to prevent and solve crimes. That is why I was excited to participate in Wheaton PD’s Neighborhood Roll Call on June 20th. Wheaton Police always do a great job at keeping the many community events happening in our town safe and secure!”

In a third news release dated June 27, Grant shared a visit to DoodleBug Workshop in Wheaton, which, she says is changing lives.

“The organization equips the special needs community with vocational skills, fostering independence, and building self-esteem, all with the help of volunteers from the community,” she said. I was so happy to take some time to tour their facilities in Downtown Wheaton and learn about all of the lives they are improving!”

Grant served the 42nd House District starting in January 2019 and now represents the 47th District, according to the ILGA website. She has lived in Wheaton for more than two decades with her husband and family. She was formerly on the DuPage County Board.
