GOP activist and Trump supporter Val Ojeda is accusing former DuPage County Commissioner Greg Hart for not being Republican enough.
Ojeda said Hart fell in line with Democrats in his 2022 run for DuPage County Chairman.
“You see this loser?” Ojeda said on Facebook. “His name is Greg Hart. He ran as a ‘Republican’ for DuPage County Chairman and lost his ass to Democrat (Deb) Conroy. You know why?”
Ojeda said that Hart isn't a real Republican.
“This loser dumski (sic) Hart ran and won the GOP primary just to announce in the general that he was ‘independent’ and was PRO-ABORTION. He attacked Trump during his campaign and just recently wrote a tirade against our President,” he said. “During the primary he supported Irvin, another PRO-ABORTION loser and later attacked anyone that supported the GOP Governor nominee Darren Bailey and his supporters.”
Ojeda has no problem expressing his opinions.
“Hart is 100% RINO, a closet Democrat and a fake,” Ojeda said. “Let me make this clear to anyone running for office as a Republican. Whoever told you that you had to ‘embrace’ pro-choice to win races, must be getting their advise (sic) from consultants from the Dollar General. We only had 20% voter turnout from the GOP that's what was the problem. The GOP sat on their hands come voting time.”
He warned voters about “Any Republican that supports pro-choice to win races is a loser and should turn in their card and resign the party immediately. Any campaign that runs on this platform I'm coming after that campaign. It's time to become Republicans again not adopting Democrat ideologies. Hart lost because he was so desperate to win for himself and not the people that he shunned our conservative beliefs.”
Ojeda pointed to a campaign mailer Hart released in which his wife, Alex Hart, discussed her husband’s pro-choice stance.
“My husband, Greg Hart, is a different kind of candidate,” Alex Hart said in the mailer. “He's a moderate who will reject political extremes. As DuPage County Chair, Greg will always protect women's rights and never restrict our right to choose. He will focus on the things that matter - supporting our education system, protecting our communities, and keeping DuPage County affordable."
Hart, who dubbed himself "the next generation Republican," won the Republican nomination for DuPage County Board Chairman and ran a high-profile campaign, raising a record-breaking $2.2 million but lost to Democrat Deb Conroy.
Ojeda previously criticized the Illinois GOP for not supporting local candidates in the April 4 election. He expressed frustration with GOP Chairman Don Tracy and the State Central Committeeman, accusing them of political malpractice and blaming them for the party's losses.
“So the Democrats spent one million dollars to get Dems elected into a School and library Boards in Illinois. Including this dude!” Ojeda said on Facebook. “The Illinois GOP spent nothing. Zero to help candidates or play defense and we are left with this!”
Ojeda highlighted the Democrats' significant financial support for their candidates in contrast to the GOP's lack of assistance.
The Illinois Review recently raised concerns about Tracy's Democratic background and campaign donations, questioning his dedication to the Republican Party.
Commentators, including radio host Dan Proft, also criticized the GOP for its failure and lack of involvement.
