DuPage County Board Chair Deb Conroy is expensing her personal vehicle through campaign donations, her campaign’s D-2 Quarterly Report reveals.
Conroy, who became chair of the county board this year, made monthly lease payments to “Ford Credit” through her "Friends of Deborah Conroy” campaign coffers in the amount of $288 in January, $275.82 in February and $258.57 in March.
The campaign expenses also include $100 paid to AT&T for a cellphone bill in the beginning and end of February.
The state's “Guide to Campaign Disclosure” disallows the purchase of a motor vehicle using campaign funds. However, the lease of such a vehicle is allowable, though campaign expenditures for personal travel is disallowed.
The Friends of Deborah Conroy campaign spent $4,743.17 from Jan. 1 to March 31.
Conroy’s campaign currently has $40,128.08 available in funds.
