Burr Ridge Trustee Antonio "Tony' Schiappa is thanking voters for re-electing him.

According to Burr Ridge's website, Schiappa is a seasoned executive with experience in sales, negotiation and operations. His "experience has allowed him to provide creative solutions to complex challenges."

“I would like to thank all who participated in the 2023 consolidated election. I look forward to another four years of working for the Village of Burr Ridge. Thank you for your support,” Schiappa said on DuPage Township Republican Organization’s Facebook page.

Schiappa was uncontested in the election.

“I would like to take this opportunity to share with you how very honored I am to be your Trustee. I will continue to do my best to protect all the residents of Burr Ridge. I am told the voting numbers are quite low. I know this is a light ballot in a consolidated election, but please take the time to research and vote. Your school board elections are vitally important,” Schiappa said on Facebook before the election.

Earlier this year Schiappa and others opposed video gambling in Burr Ridge.

"I don't think there are any positive connotations to gambling," Schiappa said, according to Patch. "There's always a winner and a loser in gambling. If we move forward with this, Burr Ridge would be the loser,” he said, according to Patch.

The 2023 election cycle, unlike those in years past, was drama free.

In 2021 and 2019 opponents to Mayor Gary Grasso were dealt blows by the politician.

Schiappa, a longtime Burr Ridge, currently serves as the chair of the Economic Development Committee and works on the Streets Policy Committee, Personnel Committee and Environmental Quality Committee. He is also the acting liquor commissioner. He has been a resident for more than three decades. Burr Ridge has also acknowledged that "Trustee Schiappa has also helped start and grow a non-profit organization that serves underprivileged Chicago residents by helping prepare their tax returns."
