Trey Romay, a graduate student outfielder on the Elmhurst University baseball team, was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Hitter of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Romay had a huge weekend at the plate for the Bluejays, going 10-for-18 (.556) across four starts against Olivet College and Central College. He tallied eight runs scored, 11 RBI's, three doubles, three home runs, and five stolen bases on the weekend. Against Olivet on Saturday, March 4, Romay went 3-for-5 at the plate with two home runs, a grand slam, and seven RBI's in the Bluejays' 14-6 victory. He backed up that performance the next day against Central, with a 3-for-4 line that included two doubles, a home run, and three RBI's.
Romay earns his first-career Hitter of the Week honor after being named First Team All-Conference last season. Romay and the Bluejays baseball team head to Kalamazoo, Mich. for a doubleheader this Saturday, March 11 at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. CT.
