Former Illinois GOP candidate Ives sounds off over low student test scores: 'Make no mistake the DEMOCRATS are responsible for this'

Former GOP gubernatorial candidate Jeanne Ives blasted Democrats this week over a new Wirepoints report that found not a single student at 53 Illinois high schools could do math at their grade level.

Ives spoke out in a Feb. 14 Facebook post, concluding that the low scores were a result of administrators seeking their own gain over student success.

"Tell me again how much the Democrats care," Ives said in the post. "They've been in charge for over 20 years - even during the failed Rauner administration. Madigan's ONLY objective was to destroy him. He ended up destroying everything himself."

In addition, research has been done to rate schools on their level of academic success, and studies revealed that even schools requiring tuition did not meet the expectation, the Wirepoints report said.

Researchers found that many of the schools not topping the fail list were recently rated “commendable” by the Illinois State Board of Education, Wirepoints said. That rating is the second-highest of four “accountability” ratings a school can receive. For instance, at Ralph Ellison Chicago International Charter School, where the tuition cost for each of its 172 students tops $24,000, none of the students were found to be proficient in either reading or math, even though the school was rated "commendable."

"Make no mistake the DEMOCRATS are responsible for this," Ives said in her post. "Certain Republicans who like big government too and protected their teacher union friends are also responsible. THIS IS THE RESULT - and It is Criminal."
