The village board of Glendale Heights recognized a local business owner.

“Well, I want to thank you, Glendale Heights, for being so good to me,” Joseph Visconti, owner of Westlake Hairstyling, said during the meeting. “You know, in 47 years, I never had one bad day. From the first day I opened up the shop, people walked to me with open arms. I’ve had customers between Mike Cameron and Ben Fitzgerald and all those three mayors that I've known that were friends, they used to come in and talk to me. So I want to thank Glendale Heights for welcoming me and for being so kind to me. Thank you.”

The council uploaded a livestream of its public meeting to the village’s YouTube channel.

At their January 5th meeting, the village board of Glendale Heights took the time to recognize a local business owner who has been operating in the area for almost 50 years. Visconti has been in business in Glendale Heights for 47 years but has finally decided that it is time for him to retire.

The board voted to pay approximately $1.91 million in various bills.

The mayor read a proclamation in honor of Mr. Visconti and his long career in town. Mr. Visconti was born in Italy and immigrated to the United States when he was 11 years old, and started working in a barbershop at the age of 14. When he was 18, he opened his first barbershop and ran it for 11 years before moving to open a new one in Glendale Heights.

The board will meet again at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 19 at 300 Civic Center Plaza.

Mr. Visconti brought his wife, to whom he has been married for 55 years, and three children to Glendale Heights where he cut generations of families’ hair throughout the years. The mayor issued him a certification of appreciation for all of his years of hard work. Mr. Visconti, alongside his family, thanked the board and the community for all their love and support.
