On October 15, Midwestern University hosted the annual Student Nurses Association of Arizona (SNAAZ) Convention. Coordinated by MWU Graduate Nursing Programs Program Director Misty Pagán, D.N.P, M.S.N, APRN, AGNP-C, this year’s event was a huge success, with roughly 20 vendors and more than 180 guests in attendance.
Breakout sessions included panels on advanced practice nursing, critical care, alternative medicine, and pediatric and medical-surgical nursing. Midwestern University’s Joseph Bailon, D.N.P., CRNA, Assistant Professor, Nurse Anesthesia and Dr. Pagán both presented as guest speakers on the advanced practice nursing panel.
The goal of SNAAz (part of the Arizona Nurses Association, or AzNA) is to expand the horizons of nursing students while positively contributing to the healthcare community. Staying in line with this goal, this year’s convention theme was ‘Ignite Your Future Career.’ Both high school and undergraduate students from all over Arizona were exposed to resources to help further their healthcare careers.
