At the Oct. 24 Lisle District 202 Board of Education meeting, the board heard about academic success at Lisle Elementary School.

The board was told the school achieved an Exemplary status from the state for performing above state average on standardized tests and increasing scores each year.

“We can celebrate that our best designation from the state was exemplary, which is in the top 10% of all elementary schools in the state,” Principal Jill Schreiber said“So that is something to celebrate because of the growth that we have seen in our math and our ELA. And I think that we also need to share that that goes to show what our teachers are doing, that we are seeing growth. But we also need to look at this in more detail of our cohort data and what we need to do to make sure that we're meeting all students' needs.”

The board was told the school's administration team will focus on numerous things for the 2022-23 school year, including obtaining access to high-quality materials and employing research-based methods through an emphasis on phonics and continuing What I Need (WIN) time with the latter aimed at getting students individualized subject help or enrichment. Lisle Elementary will use assessment data to inform all instructional decisions. The administrators will determine school-wide expectations and expand social learning through individual classroom environments.

The admin team reflected on the areas they focused on for the 2021-22 school year which included developing instructional plans, implementing the iReady assessment system, classroom culture, and improving communication. They also discussed their focus on the Bridges Math curriculum that has been featured in the school for the past six years.
