The village board considers the tax levy for the upcoming year.

“So that really paints a good picture of how the village operates,” Annmarie Mampe, senior financial consultant for the Burr Ridge’s board, said during a meeting. “We're not dependent on property taxes. Our taxes are not high for our residents yet we're still able to provide all the services that we do.”

The board uploads its public meetings to its YouTube page.

Annmarie Mampe presented to the board various aspects of the proposed village tax levy for this year, to be collected next year. They planned to keep the levy flat and steady and have the same amount as last year, $1,338,669. She also said that on average, residents will pay slightly less than last year based on EAV growth, no specific amount was determined but it does look to be the case.

Patch reported a survey confused Burr Ride Mayor Gary Grasso after it showed 18% of 300 locals felt negative towards the conditions of the village’s streets.

"I can't think of a street program that does better than Burr Ridge," the mayor said, Patch reported.

The mandated amount of funding for their police pension was lower than last year, but since the levy is staying steady they can contribute extra to the fund. Last year they contributed $23,000 over the required amount, and this upcoming levy looks to be about $81,000 above the minimum contribution.

Patch reported Grasso opposed housing migrants in hotels after 64 migrants from Venezuelans were bussed from Texas to Chicago, a political stunt by Texas Governor Greg Abbot.

Patch reported it asked Grasso to provide proof the board has the power to bar migrants from hotels, but he didn’t respond to Patch.

Examining the distribution of taxes and comparable communities nearby Burr Ridge, the village takes a very small portion of residents’ taxes and has a very low tax rate. They are not highly dependent on property taxes especially compared to some of the municipalities around them. The board voted to pass this resolution and will vote on the ordinance for the levy in December.
