At the Sept. 27 meeting of the Village of Bolingbrook Board of Trustees, the board heard from Village Attorney Burt Odelson who said two lawsuits had recently ended favorably for the village.

The first suit was from a former employe of the village who had accused the village of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act. Odelson said the village filed for a motion of summary judgement, so the suit didn't go to trial. Odelson said after multiple depositions and sharing of the facts, the judge decided – in a 19-page opinion – to dismiss the case outright. Odelson said the judge ruled the village was not at fault and had gone above and beyond the requirements of the ADA.

The second suit was filed by a man who had accused the village of wrongful arrest. Odelson said after a four-day trial, the judge ruled in the village’s favor, and the police officers accused were exonerated.

“So I'm quite proud of the police officers and their actions and proud of the lawyers from our firm who defended the Village of Bolingbrook,” Odelson said.

The board will meet again at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 at the Village Hall on 375 West Briarcliff Road.
