At the DuPage High School District 88 School Board Meeting on Sept. 12, the board president honored the board’s leadership.

“Thank you for being a good board and being willing to do all these things that we need to do in order to be a good board of Education,” Donna Cain, the board’s president, said during the meeting. “It’s not something that one person can do here. It involves the entire board.”

The district’s board has seven people in its leadership — four have terms ending in 2023.

Jack Andrews, the principal of Addison Trail High School, gave an update on the start of the new year. The school had its homecoming week in September, kicking off Spirit Week with the popular Pajama Day, leading up to the game on Friday followed by the dance on Saturday. The school was also planning its honor roll assembly for Sept. 26 to acknowledge all honor roll students from the second semester of the 21-22 school year.

The assistant principal for Willowbrook High School, Alena Edwards, gave her start-of-the-school-year update. The school's open house was a huge success and brought attendants. The school also recently celebrated its first flag football game for the girls team, which they won against Proviso East. The boys football team also won their match against Proviso East. The school is looking forward to their homecoming week following Addison Trail

President of the Board Cain also gave a brief update. She shared that Dan Olson, the vice president, had earned the certificate of equity influencer by completing the training with the IASB over the summer. She also highlighted that the board of education had been one of the 33 districts to earn the IASB’s 2022 School Board Governance Recognition Designation.

The board will meet again at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 at 2 Friendship Plaza at Addison. For more information, call the district at 630-650-3981.
