House Republican Majority has issued the following press release:
Glen Ellyn, IL- Saying, “Stefanie Hood has consistently stood against the SAFE-T Act,” DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick, a vocal critic of the SAFE-T Act, endorsed Stefanie Hood for State Representative in District 42 on Thursday.
“Stefanie Hood can be counted on to have the back of law enforcement and victims. This is a time for bold leadership in protecting our communities and we know we’ll have just that in Stefanie Hood,” said Mendrick.
“Rising crime and a significant loss of police officers put families at risk. Eliminating cash bail and regulating law enforcement under the SAFE-T Act only empowers criminals and exacerbates the problem. I fully support law enforcement and will ensure that they have the necessary training and resources to effectively protect our neighborhoods and families,” said Hood in accepting the endorsements.
Hood has also been endorsed by Safe Suburbs USA and has made public safety a central tenet of her campaign, pledging immediate action on reforming the SAFE-T Act. Hood has been a grassroots leader in the DuPage groundswell of activism aimed at restoring public safety. Hood recently hosted a Cyber Safety Event for area families and will be moderating a Panel Discussion on Safety in DuPage with area business leaders on Tuesday, October 4.
Stefanie has always taken a hands-on approach to strengthen her community and serves on the Board of Commissioners for the DuPage Housing Authority, the National Alliance on Mental Illness DuPage, and the 708 Community Mental Health Board. Stefanie and her husband reside in Glen Ellyn with their two children.
