Republican gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey will be speaking at the Kankakee County Republican Central Committee meeting on July 14.
"Where is Darren Bailey...On July 14th, Darren will be speaking at the Kankakee County Republican Central Committee meeting. WHEN: July 14, 2022 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm WHERE: 1 Dearborn Square Kankakee, IL 60901 See you along the campaign trail!" Bailey for Illinois told the DuPage Policy Journal.
The timing of Bailey's visit coincides with Kankakee County's 11 school districts remaining silent regarding the new Illinois statute that harmonizes sex education policy for grades K–12 with national standards. As of June 18, only one district in Kankakee County had indicated that it would reject the provisions for younger children, while 11 other districts had not yet indicated their intentions, Kankakee Times reported.
Districts are given the option to either opt out of or implement the new law's sex education policy for younger pupils, which the state Legislature enacted as Senate Bill 818.
Since days before it was clear Bailey would win the June 28 primary, he had been on a bus tour visiting all parts of the state, according to Prairie State Wire.
“We are going to send a message to the Republican establishment that we will not be bullied into sacrificing our principles to elect their hand-picked candidates,” Bailey said at one stop. “People say JB Pritzker wants me to win this primary because he thinks having me as an opponent means he will have an easier time winning. My message to JB Pritzker is BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR…. BECAUSE YOU JUST MIGHT GET IT!”
Bailey is rooted in the conservative principles of perseverance, personal freedom, and civic duty. He is aware of the daily threats posed by large government and powerful career politicians to these priceless liberties.
There is a current "political class that is ignoring our values and harming American families," Bailey said on his website. "Illinois needs a leader that is one of us."
