Illinois 11th Congressional District Republican candidate Jerry Evans has landed an endorsement from Roger Claar.

“Our campaign just received a HUGE endorsement from 11th District Republican State Central Committeeman and former mayor of Bolingbrook Roger Claar,” Evans posted on Facebook. “Conservatives across the 11th district are lining up behind our campaign, because they know that we are going to win big on Election Day and take back the House for Republicans.”

Evans, a resident of Warrenville, is a political outsider who is running for a congressional office "to create a brighter future full of opportunity for Illinois’ next generation," and as an entrepreneur himself understands "what it means to sign the front and back of a paycheck," according to his campaign bio.

“Unlike our current Democrat Congressman, Jerry knows what it means to build a small business and make payroll. We need the accountability, business experience, and solutions he will bring to Washington," Claar said, according to Evans' campaign. "Jerry is the right person for the job, and he has my complete endorsement.”

Evans will face a crowded field including Catalina Lauf who served as an advisor at the U.S. Department of Commerce under President Donald Trump, Mark Carroll, Susan Hathaway-Altman, Andrea Heeg, Juan Ramos, and Tanner Miller.

Those in the race have voiced optimism that Republicans will win the district in the 2022 elections. The race was rated by the National Republican Congressional Committee as a possible flip.

“I knew our campaign had the momentum to take our district and Congress back from the Democrats," Lauf said. "It looks like the National Republican Congressional Committee has taken notice. This is our chance to flip Congress back to the Republicans, fire Nancy Pelosi, and stop the radical socialist agenda dead in its tracks.”

Evans supports cutting red tape and strategic budgeting for the state's economic growth.

The new 11th congressional district includes the cities of Aurora, Naperville, Woodridge, Darien, Bolingbrook, Burr Ridge, New Lenox and Joilet.  It includes parts of DuPage, Will and Cook counties.
