Darien Police Report from March 28, 2022 to April 4, 2022.

March 29

Damage to Property

At 4:45 a.m., officers responded to 2113 75th St for a damage to property report. Upon arrival, officers spoke to security. Security told officers that during the business check, security noticed a bottom window in a vacant store front was shattered. Officers entered the building and found a golf ball sized rock inside the window. Damage is estimated at $200.

Driving While License Revoked

At 1:34 p.m., officer in the 7900 block of Cass Ave observed a vehicle with an expired registration sticker. The officer stopped the vehicle and the driver, Raymond Herrera, 45, of 3725 S. 58th Street, Cicero, was arrested for Driving While License Revoked and was given a court date of May 12, 2022 at the DuPage County Judicial Center.

Retail Theft

At 4:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to Jewel, 7329 Cass Ave., for a retail theft. A Jewel employee advised that a male offender left the store with a bag full of liquor and food. The approximate loss is unknown. No other information at this time.

March 30

Theft $500 and Under

At approximately 2:35 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the Walmart store at 2189 75th St for a theft report. Upon arrival, I located the victim at the service desk. Victim advised that someone removed her make-up bag and wallet from her purse. The approximate loss is $382. Nothing further at this time.

March 31

Possession of Cannabis

At 1:38 a.m., an officer, in the area of 75th St and Cass Ave. observed a vehicle with no registration plate light. The vehicle was stopped and the officer could smell the strong odor of fresh cannabis coming from the vehicle. Kenneth Moore, 27, of 1504 Seven Pines Rd, Springfield, IL, was given a warning for the registration plate light and cited for unlawful possession of cannabis by driver. Moore was given a court date of 05/05/22 at the DuPage County Judicial Center.

Domestic Battery

At approximately 9:44 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of 71st Street. Leticia Brown, 43, of 1627 71st Street, was charged with two counts of domestic battery. Brown was transported to the DuPage County Jail.

April 1

Retail Theft

At 1:13 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Walmart, 2189 75th St., reference a retail theft. A loss prevention official had witnessed two offenders not scanning some items and began walking to the exit. The total of unpaid items came out to $68.73. Kyesha Harris, 23, of 151 Spring, Romeoville and Takayla Rooks, 24, of 2524 Crystal Ct #212, Woodridge, were each issued a Notice to Appear for Retail Theft. They were both given a court date of May 12 at DuPage County Judicial Center.

April 2

Driving While License Suspended

At approximately 7:57 a.m., an officer in the area of 7900 block of Lemont Road observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, Nadia Freitag, 19, of 1721 Trails End Ln, Bolingbrook, was arrested for Driving While License Suspended and Speeding. Freitag was released on a Notice to Appear with a court date pending. Nothing further.

Retail Theft

At 1:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to Walmart 2189 75th St. for a retail theft. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a loss prevention officer. Video surveillance showed one offender not scanning all the items and the other bagging the items and putting them in the cart. The total of unpaid items was $181.29. Evelyn Hermoza, 31, of 21 W 59th St, Westmont, was issued a Notice to Appear for retail theft with a court date on 5-5-22 at the Wheaton courthouse. Nothing further.

April 3

Warrant Service

At approximately 10:56 a.m., an officer in the 8300 block of Cass Ave observed a vehicle with heavy tint on the front and rear windows. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, Jamal Campbell, 30, of 1533 Pineview Ct, Darien, was arrested for a Failure to Appear Warrant out of DeKalb County. He was given a court date of 5/2/22 at DeKalb County Courthouse. Jamal was also issued a citation for Improper Window Tint.
