Superintendent Announces Resignation 
Board of Education begins planning for leadership transition.
During the Monday, March 21 regularly scheduled meeting, the Lake Park High School District 108 Board of Education accepted the resignation of Superintendent Dr. Jeff Feucht, effective June 30, 2022.
Board President Barb Layer shared the following on behalf of the Board: “The Lake Park High School District 108 Board of Education appreciates the hard work of Dr. Jeff Feucht during these incredibly challenging last two years. Throughout his tenure at Lake Park, Jeff demonstrated a commitment to ethics and integrity in the workplace and a dedication to the safety and success of all students. We look forward to partnering with Jeff over the remaining three months of the school year to ensure a smooth transition.”
Dr. Feucht shared: “I am grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of the Lake Park school community over the last two years and am proud of the level of engagement and opportunity we were able to maintain for our students even in the face of unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic. I am most proud of the perseverance of our Lancers and Lancer staff who demonstrated resolve and care for each other throughout this time. I look forward to actively participating in the culmination of this school year, commencement for the Class of 2022, and the smooth transition in leadership.”
The Board of Education has proactively begun planning for a smooth and successful transition of leadership. Please know that while this takes time to process, Board members are fully committed to making decisions in the best interest of Lancer students, families, staff, and communities. Further details about this transition will be forthcoming.  
Students Earn 5.0 Academic Distinction
Lancers honored for achieving academic excellence during high school career.
Congratulations to 119 graduating Lancers who have achieved a cumulative 5.0 grade point average or higher through seven semesters at Lake Park High School. Click here to view a complete list of students.
Illinois High School Art Exhibition
Lancer artists selected to display original work until April 8.
The best student artists from more than 100 Illinois high schools competed on Sunday, March 13 for more than $119,000,000 in college scholarships at the Illinois High School Art Exhibition (IHSAE). The show runs through Friday, April 8 at the Bridgeport Art Center in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood.
Congratulations to Lake Park art students whose work was accepted into the Northern Regional exhibition: Reina Itai (12), Youstina Riad (11), Sammy Aguilar (12), Marc Balbarin (10), Madison Scoles (10). Their artwork was selected to be displayed with more than 500 other artists from around the state in eight distinct categories.
Congratulations to Jacob Schmidt (12) and Nola White (12) for their artwork that was selected to be included in this year's senior scholarship competition. These Lancers were awarded a combined total of $552,000 in scholarship offers from colleges and universities. Jacob also won a Visionary Art Award for his photo accompanying this article.
Congratulations to Julia Persak (11) for her artwork that was selected to be included in the Early College Program Exhibition, showcasing the work of approximately 100 underclassmen. She was awarded a scholarship to to Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design for a summer college experience.
VEX Robotics Team Advances to Nationals
Lancers head to U.S. Open C.R.E.A.T.E. National Championship next week. 
Congratulations to Lake Park's VEX Robotics Team 60172W who will compete in Council Bluffs, Iowa next week for the U.S. Open C.R.E.A.T.E. National Championship (Competitive Robotics Enhancing and Advancing Technology Education).
Team 60172W won the Lake Park inaugural tournament in October 2021 that qualified their team for the State Championship and U.S. Open C.R.E.A.T.E Nationals Championship. The team won three qualifying matches at the State Tournament and made it to the Quarter Finals in the elimination rounds of the tournament. They ended up with a top 8 alliance finish at the State Championship. This season the team had a skills score of 260, which ranked them in the top 30 of the state among 120 teams. As a team, they have over 100 pages in their engineering notebook.
Good luck to the following team members who enjoyed a spirit march and sendoff today: Trey McCallister (12), Nicolas Nevarez (12), Vivek Patel (12), Joey Portincaso (12), Frank Sprandel (12), Ellie Sprandel (10), and Grace Weber (12). The VEX Robotics Team is coached by Matt Sullivan, who has a successful record of qualifying teams for Nationals the last four consecutive years.
Upcoming Standardized Testing: PSAT & SAT
Communication details information about a modified schedule on April 13.
The school day SAT is scheduled for the entire junior Class of 2022 on Wednesday, April 13. This SMART day is a non-attendance day for seniors, except those who did not complete the SAT in April 2021. Additionally, the PSAT will be administered for freshmen and sophomores at East Campus. Buses will return students who early following the completion of testing.
As students prepare for the PSAT/SAT exams that will be administered at both campuses on Wednesday, April 13, please refer to the communication for information about transportation, testing requirements, and more.
Community Read Program Welcomes Author
Arshay Cooper will deliver all-school assembly on April 8.
Lake Park High School District 108, The Bloomingdale Public Library, The Itasca Community Library, and The Roselle Public Library are proud to welcome award-winning author Arshay Cooper as he presents the moving story behind A Most Beautiful Thing. His memoir shares the true story of a group of young men growing up on Chicago’s West side who formed the first all-black high school rowing team in the nation and, in doing so, transformed a sport and their lives.
On Friday, April 8, all students at both Lake Park campuses will follow an assembly schedule to hear his inspiring message. West Campus students will watch the assembly in the main gymnasium, and East Campus students will watch a livestream. On Saturday, April 9 at 11:00 a.m. community members are invited to a free event at Lake Park High School West Campus, 500 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue, Roselle.
Arshay Cooper is a Rower, Benjamin Franklin award-winning author, the protagonist of the novel and critically acclaimed film A Most Beautiful Thing, a Golden Oar recipient for his contributions to the sport of rowing, motivational speaker, and activist, particularly around issues of accessibility for low-income families. Join him during his visit to Roselle to discuss his experience chronicled in the novel A Most Beautiful Thing, The True Story of America's First All-Black High School Rowing Team.
Graduation Yard Signs
Congratulate your graduating Lancer with a personalized yard sign.
Junior Class Council will be selling yard signs to congratulate the Lake Park Class of 2022 on their upcoming graduation! Signs are available to order for $10.00 and can be personalized for an additional $5.00. Parents/Guardians enter your student's ID # and last name to login in and purchase.
Sign pick up will be available after school in the West Campus Activities Office beginning Tuesday, April 5 from 2:15 to 2:45 p.m. Please allow a minimum of one week for personalizing. Families will be contacted when personalized signs are ready for pick up.

Summer Theatre Camp Stages a New Production
Young thespians invited to participate in Lake Park's annual summer camp.
Join Lake Park's Theatre Department for an exciting two-week summer camp full of characters, stories, and adventure in preparation for this year's production of Beauty & The Beast, Jr.!
Enrollment is open to Lake Park students and incoming 5th-12th graders in the community. All rehearsals will take place in the East Campus Dice Auditorium:
.....July 11 through July 14 - 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
.....July 18 through July 21 - 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
Culminating with a final performance at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, the camp will include classes in acting, singing, dancing, props, and more. The registration fee of $250 per student includes a camp t-shirt and all educational programs and props for the final performance. Registration forms are available online and due by Friday, June 3. Questions about the camp can be directed to Mrs. Sara Keith.
