CCSD93 Parents Invited by ISBE to take Illinois 5Essentials Survey by 3/11
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) would like parent feedback about their child's CCSD93 school, as all parents across Illinois are invited to participate in the Illinois 5Essentials Survey.
This survey was designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of each Illinois school. It allows parents to share their thoughts on important elements about the effectiveness of their child's school with ISBE.
Parents are invited to take the survey linked here by March 11. It should take about 10 minutes to complete. If enough parents respond to the survey, response data will be generated into a report shared with state, district, and school administrators.
Please review the following articles for more great news from CCSD93, and have a terrific weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. David H. Hill

Western Trails 5th Graders Use Teamwork & Critical-Thinking to Crack the Code!
Students at Western Trails are celebrating the conclusion of their schoolwide One School, One Book read of Nuts to You by collaborating to crack the code of a Breakout EDU inspired by the children’s novel.
A Breakout EDU is a similar concept as an escape room, as students work together in small groups thinking critically, creatively and flexibly to solve a series of problems related to areas of study in order to ultimately unlock a goal. In this case, the student sleuths use knowledge from their recently completed book to figure out riddles and puzzles to eventually find and release one of the story’s lead characters.
Today the school’s 5th graders were ecstatic to participate in this thrilling and unique learning opportunity, and the rest of the school’s students will have their chances at it as their grade levels complete the novel. Special credit goes to Western Trails 4th grade teacher Angela Howieson and the school’s Literacy Committee for creating and supporting this adventurous, mind-bending activity.
