Schools honored for financial aid application assistance

Each of our schools received the Illinois Student Assistance Commission recognition of excellence for financial aid application completion of the Class of 2021. We are so proud of our school counseling and leadership teams for their hard work and dedication to ensuring that all students are supported in their postsecondary planning.
Student leadership summit focuses on unity
Our African American Female Leadership Summit was held today. Author and motivational speaker Sonya Chapman and servant leader and life strategist Katrina Boatright discussed the unity that young Black females need to develop through an understanding of grace, love, oneness and worth.

Santee shares takeaway from GPS webinar
On Feb. 16, the Glenbard Parent Series hosted Kristin Neff in a webinar titled The Power of Self-Compassion, based on her book "Self-Compassion: The Proven Power of Being Kind to Yourself." Click here for the Q and A from the webinar.
Glenbard South Principal Jessica Santee hosted the event and shared the following takeaway: "Dr. Neff provided insight into the many benefits of self-compassion (like greater happiness and calmer households), which involves being kind to ourselves in times of struggle. Self-compassion is not about making yourself feel better at the expense of others, but rather, it involves cultivating feelings of self-worth in any setting – in success or failure. It is treating yourself the way you would treat a friend or a loved one by noticing the sadness, extending empathy and recognizing that it’s human to fail. As caregivers, we need to model self-compassion. In doing so, we let our children know that they, too, are valued and deserving of kindness."
Students make blankets for children with cancer
Our Live Life Well week kicked off on Monday with students volunteering to make blankets for children with cancer as part of Project Linus. More than 150 students from our four schools came together to be in service to others. Pizza and supplies were provided by the ACTS: Advocating Character Through Service Parent Committee in partnership with student clubs and teams.
