Kathleen H. Goeppinger, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of Midwestern University, is pleased to announce that Gregory J. Gaus, and Chara Reid-Reed, Pharm.D., have been appointed to the University’s Board of Trustees. As the governing body of the University, the Board of Trustees works closely with the University’s Leadership Team to chart the future of Midwestern University while upholding its values and mission to educate the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Mr. Gaus recently retired from Midwestern University after serving in various positions of increasing responsibility since joining the staff in 1981. Most recently, he helped support the University’s significant growth as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, a position he held for nearly 25 years. During his distinguished tenure, Mr. Gaus significantly contributed to the financial stability of the University. His many duties included the supervision of all financial operations including accounting, accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, student financial services, and registrars. Mr. Gaus also oversaw all revenue cycle activities for the University clinics and all treasury functions for the University and its subsidiaries. Under his careful stewardship, Midwestern University grew from a single college with 1,000 students to nearly 7,000 students, across 12 colleges located on two campuses. Mr. Gaus is the Past Chair of the Council of Chief Financial Officers for the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medical Schools. He holds a B.S. in Accounting and is a member of the Illinois CPA and Indiana CPA societies.
Dr. Chara Reid-Reed earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Midwestern University in 2004. She is the Director of Specialty Practice Solutions, Southeast Region, for AmerisourceBergen, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical services companies. In her role, she provides support for healthcare systems and community oncology practices in 19 states and works with community oncologists to manage infusion services, physician dispensing, and specialty oncology pharmacy provisions. Dr. Reid-Reed has held several professional pharmacy roles since graduating from Midwestern University and has published academic papers, mentored students as a pharmacy preceptor, earned several awards and accolades, and has spoken to professional audiences across the country. Dr. Reid-Reed is also an inaugural member of the Midwestern University Diverse Alumni Network, President of the Midwestern University College of Pharmacy Alumni Council, and received the 2021 MWU Alumnus of the Year award for her service and dedication to the University. She is an active member of several professional pharmacy organizations and is the Founder of the Pharmacist Women Networking Association.
As members of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Gaus and Dr. Reid-Reed will help advance Midwestern University’s mission to maintain the highest standards of academic excellence and will participate in the governance of the private, not-for-profit graduate and postgraduate educational institution offering degrees in the health sciences.
