Police have arrested a woman and charged her with vandalizing a memorial to Chicago police officer Ella French, who was killed in the line of duty last Aug. 7.

Anna Kochakian, 26, was arrested Feb. 9 and charged with criminal damage to property – defacement of a police memorial, the Illinois State Police said.

"The offender was arrested using the handcuffs of #EllaFrench‘s partner, Officer Carlos Yanez Jr.," Chicago police tweeted. "This was a moment of justice for Ella, her family, the #ChicagoPolice Department and all those who knew and loved Ella. #NeverForget."

French was shot in the back of the head Aug. 7, after pulling over a vehicle in Englewood with expired license plates, police said. Yanez was shot several times, lost an eye and was partially paralyzed, WGN reported.

Two brothers have been arrested in connection with the shooting in which Officer French was killed – Emonte Morgan, 21, and Eric  Morgan, 22.  They are facing several felony  charges, including  murder and attempted murder, Fox 32 reported.

On April 19, an Illinois State Police officer at the James R. Thompson Center was alerted that the memorial to French had been defaced, Illinois State Police said.

"The memorial featured a  photograph of Officer French that was  subsequently torn down, crumpled, and discarded in a trash can at a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA)," Illinois State Police said.
