Dear Friend of CCSD93,
Message From
Superintendent Hill:
Students in Roy DeShane School’s Environmental Club have taken on sustainable practices that include composting with live worms and growing produce.
This morning the group met before school for a nature walk and then checked in on their worms, adding food scraps for composting. They also cared for the vegetables and herbs they have been growing in an ultra-efficient tower garden, which stimulates growth using nutrients and 90% less water than traditional gardens. The club concluded by planting seeds in potted soil, which they will continue to cultivate throughout the year.
All of CCSD93’s schools remain committed to sustainability, with advanced recycling programs and eco-friendly design elements like permeable paver parking lots in place. Many offer similar student clubs that emphasize green practices.

Review CCSD93's Strategic Plan Progress in 2021-22 State of the District Video
As we continue to strive to keep our community informed about CCSD93, I invite you to click the image below to watch our 2021-22 State of the District video. In it, you’ll find updates on the progress of each of CCSD93’s four 2018-23 Strategic Plan Goals. It’s longer than our typical videos, so if you would prefer to watch it in chunks, you can find it prominently posted to our website at www.ccsd93.com for the foreseeable future.
The State of the District debuted for attendees of last night’s Portrait of a Graduate Community Forum. As a reminder, the Portrait of a Graduate process has sought input from more than 100 students, parents, staff members, and community members to help to determine the values, knowledge, skills and work habits students should have by the time they graduate from CCSD93. The feedback will heavily influence our next Strategic Plan, which will be developed throughout next school year with additional survey input from students, parents and staff members.
Please review the information below for more of the latest from CCSD93, and remember there is no school on Monday, January 17 as we celebrate the life and accomplishments of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Enjoy the long weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. David H. Hill
Superintendent of Schools
