A parent said the Corner Bakery in Hinsdale is kicking out kids who do not show proof of vaccination.

“My 5th grader and two of his friends just went to Corner Bakery in Hinsdale and they made them leave with their food bc they didn’t have proof of vaccination. They’re 11,” a mom named Amy texted. "They had to eat their food in the cold train station bc I dropped them off for 40 mins.”

While Cook County has mandated proof of vaccination for anyone age 5 and over using public establishments, the surrounding counties have not embraced the mandate.

The Corner Bakery in Hinsdale is at 42 E Hinsdale Ave., in DuPage County.

"@CornerBakery in Hinsdale - which is not located in Cook County - kicked out two unvaccinated 5th graders. Hope neither those kids nor their parents ever return,” tweeted a Twitter user identified as Emma Woodhouse.

Some Twitter users urged members of the community to call for a boycott.

“@CornerBakery is overpriced crap food anyway. Screw them. I think a bunch of people should go there refuse to show cards and just sit there. What are they going to do?”  Denise McAleer said in response.

Another poster confirmed the story.

“I live In town and can confirm they are checking vax cards. We will not eat there again,” Sam said.

The location is part of a Chicago-based chain that operates 192 location across the nation.

The chain was purchased in early 2021 by Philadelphia-based restaurateur Jignesh “Jay” Pandya.

The efficacy of coronavirus immunization, as well as the protection vaccinations may provide, has been questioned by some research.

According to a February 2021 article in The New England Journal of Medicine, out of 596,618 Israelis, 39 died from COVID among the non-vaccinated and 20 died from COVID among the vaccinated, resulting in a 0.0003 percent reduction in the probability of pandemic-related death.

According to a Pew Research survey, a majority of unvaccinated respondents oppose forced immunization for everyday use of public facilities, 88 percent of unvaccinated respondents said “There’s too much pressure on Americans to get a COVID-19 vaccine” and 81% of the unvaccinated responded yes to “We don’t really know yet if there are serious health risks from COVID-19 vaccines.” Another 81% of the unvaccinated surveyed agree with the statement that “Public health officials are not telling us everything they know about COVID-19 vaccines.”

An Axios-Ipsos poll found 20% of Americans responded they never intend to get vaccinated, which is down from 34% in March.
