DuPage County Chairman Greg Hart is accusing now-former DuPage Democratic Party Chairman May Lemanski of only making the unimaginable more unbearable following a deadly crash at a Waukesha parade that left six dead and dozens more injured.
“My heart breaks for the people of Waukesha,” Hart posted on Facebook. “Today is a day for mourning, not for politics. However, on a day when parents and children were murdered and severely injured, I am utterly disgusted that a leader of the DuPage Democratic Party - Mary Lemanski - would have so little compassion and decency to make light of the tragedy and to say 'Wisconsin citizens, even the children' in some way deserved what happened to them. What kind of values are we demonstrating for our children?”
Lemanski has since been forced to resign from her position as the DuPage Democrats' social media director after taking to social media to call the tragedy “karma” for the Kyle Rittenhouse acquittal. She later added in a tweet “You reap what you sow. It’s sad people died, but when you open the door to vigilante justice, everyone seems threatening.”
Hart isn’t the only one expressing disappointment.
"We are sad to see yet another DuPage Democratic Party leader making national news for all the wrong reasons,” Safe Suburbs USA PAC founder Kevin Coyne posted on Facebook. “This one suggesting that innocent parade goers being injured (going as far as to say 'even kids') was somehow ‘karma’ for the Rittenhouse verdict. This is the same group that just last year had a County Board candidate step down for posting jokes about an officer being injured during a riot. It’s the same group that just last year saw one of its honored committeewomen arrested for allegedly biting an officer during her DUI arrest. We cannot have safe communities if we are led by anti-police, anti-law-and-order radicals.”
Coyne added his PAC is committed to seeking and supporting strong law-and-order candidates.
“We will continue to call out those officials and candidates whom we believe place their own radical political agendas over the safety of our kids," he said.
