Q2 Recap: 4 parolees from DuPage County convicted of homicide set for release

There were four offenders convicted of homicide living in DuPage County released on parole during the second quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.

The data shows all of the released offenders among the parolees were men. Of the parolees sentenced for homicide, one was a veteran, and the median age was 48. The youngest parolee was a 41-year-old man sentenced in 1997, and the oldest was a 60-year-old man sentenced in 2010.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Marvin Scott. He was convicted in 1995 when he was 21 years old. He is now 48.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
