Village of Lombard News: Development Update

Recently issued the following announcement.

Lilac Station Development Update
Work is continuing on the lower level resident parking garage which will be underneath the proposed apartment building.  This latest work includes pouring lower level perimeter walls, waterproofing, drain tile installation, soil compaction and installation of the rebar grid within the poured footings.  Construction of storm sewers and fire hydrants will also commence. Beginning Monday, Oct. 11, lane reductions will be in place on Main St. from W. Washington Blvd. to E. Hickory St. as work on the Helen Plum Library construction project continues. Two-way traffic will be continuously maintained through the end of the lane reductions, tentatively Oct. 20. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, drive slowly, and watch for workers on the road. Local Tourism Grant:

Applications Now Open

The Village of Lombard is seeking grant applications for local programs and events that support tourism and promote the Village as a destination to nonresident visitors. Interested first time applicants to the Local Tourism Grant Program are encouraged to submit an application for Local Tourism Grant funds to the Village by December 10, 2021. Learn more.

West Nile Virus: High Risk

The Health Department’s Personal Protection Index (PPI) remains at Level 3 (high risk) because of the number of mosquito batches testing positive for WNV. Level 3 indicates high numbers of infected mosquitoes in most areas, and multiple human cases of WNV disease in DuPage County. View the PPI.

West Nile Virus (WNV) Prevention -

Follow the 4 Ds of Defense:

DRAIN: Drain those items that collect standing water around your home, yard or business. Scrub and refill pet water dishes and bird baths regularly.

DEFEND: Use an insect repellent containing DEET when outdoors and reapply according

to directions.

DRESS: Wear long pants, long sleeves and closed toe shoes when outside to cover the skin.

DAWN & DUSK: Wear repellent if outdoors during these prime times for mosquito activity

The Village of Lombard is currently hiring for the following position in the Police Department:

  • Civilian Police Records Supervisor - The Village of Lombard is seeking a full-time Police Records Supervisor to work weekdays at the Lombard Police Department; this is a non-sworn position.  This position will be responsible for supervising, evaluating and coordinating Police Records personnel, and preserving and maintaining the police records, record management systems, and evidence control systems.
