Village of Oak Brook -- September 11th / Healing Fields Flag Display

Flag

Recently issued the following announcement.

Each year the Village of Oak Brook has held a memorial ceremony honoring the fallen of September 11, 2001.  This year, the Village of Oak Brook along and The True Patriots Care Foundation will host the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 Memorial with The Healing Field US flag display.  2,976 American Flags will be posted in perfect rows and columns in an awe inspiring tribute to honor those killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.  The event begins with Opening Ceremonies on Wednesday, September 8th at 6 PM and conclude Sunday, September 12th with closing ceremonies starting at 11 AM. The display will be open 24 hours a day. There will be daily programs, special events, and participation from survivors, veterans, community and school groups.

The Healing Field flag display will be located on the Village of Oak Brook Sports Core soccer field just east of the Oak Brook Public Library.  All Village residents are invited to visit the Healing Field display and walk amid the flags.

Those who have visited The Healing Field display in Oak Brook several years ago know to expect an inspiring and memorable event, and those who are first time visitors will find that the amazing display must be experienced to be fully appreciated.  We are grateful for True Patriots Care choosing to return to Oak Brook for this special anniversary.

Please be aware that we expect heavy traffic on I-88 and York Rd near the event site on Sunday afternoon September 12th at approximately 1:30pm when we expect approximately 1000 motorcycles arriving from Woodstock.

We hope that you and your family can attend this special event. Please check our Village website for additional details.www.oak-brook.org

Thank you for your kind attention.
