Issued the following announcement on Aug.2

Thirteen works of art by 13 of Bloomingdale's finest artists will be unveiled at a public reception scheduled for 3 to 4 p.m., August 29 at the Johnston Recreation Center, 172 S. Circle Ave., in Bloomingdale.

The talented members of the Bloomingdale Artists Association (BAA) created nine canvas paintings and four photographs of Bloomingdale parks which will be permanently displayed in the Johnston Recreation Center (JRC).

The initiative began in 2019 when then Bloomingdale Park District Executive Director Carrie Fullerton approached the BAA about a collaborative project to bring artwork into the JRC. The BAA agreed to the newly-named Paint the Parks initiative, but the project was delayed because of the pandemic.

The Park District thanks the BAA and the artists for creating these wonderful works for everyone to enjoy. The public is invited to the opening reception to view the artwork and meet the artists.
