Naperville Fire Department issued the following announcement on May 25.

At 4:53 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call from a resident reporting a fire involving the garage of a single-family home. A general alarm was dispatched to the reported structure fire, consisting of three engines, two ladder trucks, one squad, two ambulances and two shift commanders.

Within five minutes of the initial 911 call, Engine 7 arrived on scene. First responders noticed smoke coming from the roof above the two-car attached garage and established command. They verified that everyone was out of the house and deployed a hand-line to extinguish the fire in the garage. Within 15 minutes of the initial 911 call, command advised that the main body of the fire was extinguished. Salvage and overhaul were performed on the garage and a search was conducted, along with smoke removal from the home and extinguishment of any hidden fire.

The resident reported that smoke detectors alerted him to the fire. He then smelled smoke and called 911. All residents and pets were evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival.
The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department. The City's Transportation, Engineering and Development Group (TED) and The American Red Cross were notified. The Warrenville FPD and Downers Grove FD provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident.

There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The cause of this fire was not suspicious in nature and is currently under investigation by the Naperville Fire Investigation Team. The residence was determined to be uninhabitable due to smoke damage.
