Former DuPage County Board member Bob Larsen wants to see common sense win out in the debate over sending kids back to school.

"I think there needs to be a rational evaluation of going back to school,” he told the DuPage Policy Journal. “I’m not an anti-masker and I’m not somebody that thinks COVID-19 is a hoax, but I think the schools overreacted. I think the Chicago Teachers' Union has been a real embarrassment. I think they just don’t want to work. I think reasonable measures should be taken that could slow the pandemic without shutting down society.”

When it comes to DuPage County and the immediate fate of all its students, Larsen said he is desperately hoping for the best.

“I think schools can be reopened with reasonable measures,” he said.  “We need to be smart with a reasonable balance.”
